Curing Depression Fast By Yoga

Depression & Its Cure Naturally By Yoga Meditation & Right Diet

Depression is a psychosomatic disorder which afflicts the whole physical and mental structure. The nervous system, the network of endocrine glands, the muscular system of the body, sleep patterns and appetite are all disrupted. A recent study revealed that 2 to 4% of all Americans require medical treatment for depression every year, and that 1 in 8 will suffer from severe depression at some stage in life. Studies from European countries and Australia present similar findings. Clearly, depression is one of the most common illnesses, although it sometimes remains undiagnosed for years. According to many doctors, depression, in its many physical and mental guises, is the most common problem encountered in medical practice. Nor is the impact of this disease on the sufferer alone, but it has far reaching effects on family members, friends and colleagues as well.

Categories of Depression

Dysthymia is a long-term, mild depression that is diagnosed when there has been a persistently depressed mood for at least two years. By definition, the symptoms are not as severe as those for Major Depression, although people with Dysthymia are vulnerable to co-occurring episodes of Major Depression (sometimes referred to as "Double Depression"). This disorder often begins in adolescence and crosses the lifespan. Dysthymic disorder typically develops first and may be followed later by one or more Major Depressive Episodes.

Major Clinical Depression Major Depression, or, more properly, Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), is characterized by a severely depressed mood that persists for at least two weeks. Major Depressive Disorder is specified as either "a single episode" or "recurrent", depending on whether periods of depression occur as discrete events or recur within an individual's lifespan. Episodes of major or clinical depression may be further divided into mild, major or severe. If the patient has already had an episode of mania or markedly elevated mood, a diagnosis of bipolar disorder (also called bipolar affective disorder) is usually made instead of MDD; depression without periods of elation or mania is therefore sometimes referred to as unipolar depression because the mood remains at one emotional state ("pole"). The diagnosis also usually excludes cases where the symptoms are a normal result of bereavement. Diagnosticians recognize several possible subtypes of Major Depressive Disorder. ICD-10 does not specify a melancholic subtype, but does distinguish by presence or absence of psychosis. ...... Read Complete Article

Patanjali System Of Yoga

The sage Patanjali postulated an eight-fold system of spiritual yogic practice for achieving the divine goal. It comprises: Yam (Controls) Niyam (Rules and regulations) Asan (Bodily Postures) Pranaayam (Breath Control Exercises) Pratyahaar (Sense control) Dharana (Concentration) Dhyaana (Meditation) Samadhi (Mergence) Yams (Behavior Controls) "Avoid...unrighteous behavior." All our behavior should be based on a disciplined approach when we interact with others.
There are five behavioral controls as postulate by sage Patanjali. These are: Ahimsa (Non – violence) Satya (Truthfulness) Brahmachaarya (Celibacy) Asteya (Non stealing) Aparigraha (Non-covetousness) These five behavior controls have to be followed by the Sadhaka (Yogic practitioner) with strong dedication and diligence. Niyams (Rules and regulations) "Follow correct moral precepts." All our interactions require a degree of purity, acceptance and surrender. Sage Patanjali detailed five ‘ Niyams ’ as under: Maintain cleanliness in body and speech.
Be Content with what you have Perform austerities Study the Scriptures regularly Surrender every action of yours to the Universal Spirit These five regulations help you to achieve purity in body and mind, making you morally and spiritually fit to take up the yogic pathway to enlightenment.
