Relieving Stress Wisely by cleaning the mind

To have a clean mind - change it frequently. In a state of impurity, one would be busy condemning great ideas of transformation. Understanding the mind, transforming the mind and transcending the mind are the mantra for enlightenment. Understand the mind: This is awareness of how the mind functions. Mind only exists in thoughts.
It can create lot of illusions. Most of us don’t experience the world as it is, but rather through our minds. The world can be beautiful or ugly. It all depends on how our minds are focusing.
Also we have not one mind, but many minds. The mind of a father in us is different from the mind of a son, husband or businessman in us. We have different “I’s”. So too we have different types of minds.
Understanding how mind operates gives us a better leverage of how to handle the mind. Transform the mind: The next step is changing from negative words to positive words, from negative pictures to positive pictures. Mind is a series of thoughts, thoughts are words and pictures.
They emanate from our values. If we have a negative value, we get a negative thought or picture; or if you have a positive value you get a positive thought or picture. So transforming our values is in essence transforming the mind. Lastly, one has to transcend the mind: Between two thoughts there exists silence.
Learn to see the gaps between thoughts, see the silence between thoughts. The observer of silence is nothing but silence. Then one learns to enjoy silence. Do-ables: Sit on the bed, before sleeping, with a deep awareness of your body, with a deep sense of gratitude of the miracle of the body.
Breathe deeply three times as though you are inhaling God’s blessings. Exhale all your tensions. Visualise that a great secret is hidden in a stressful incident.
Relive your tense mind and see it as a great lesson existence is teaching you. Now re-live this tense moment as though you are a Buddha... an enlightenment being. Visualize how you are not affected by that tension. You are seeing it like a play and you are as calm as a Buddha. You are just a witness. Then lie down and let sleep dawn on you.

Hydrotherapy Pioneer and Bio-Logic Aqua Research Founder Sharon Kleyne to Preview the '2007

Topics to Be Addressed Include an Overview of Emergent Workplace and Environmental Risks Negatively Impacting Occupational Health and New Approaches to Adult & Pediatric Eyesight Wellness

Bio-Logic Aqua Research Founder & Chairman and topical hydrotherapy pioneer and eyesight and occupational wellness advocate Sharon F. Kleyne has announced plans for a major, year-long "2007 Bio-Logic Aqua Research International Symposium On Occupational Health And Eyesight Wellness Responsibility" -- that will evaluate and address the environmental, behavioral and lifestyle changes threatening occupational health standards and adult and pediatric eyesight health worldwide -- and identify positive choices that people everywhere can make in their own lives right now.Kleyne with the Bio-Logic Aqua Research medical team will launch and preview this ambitious and unprecedented symposium with an opening session at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles on Tue., January 30 when she will introduce key participants and outline the endeavor's scope and objectives. The 12:30PM event will begin with a luncheon and feature a keynote address at 1:30PM. On February 6, Mrs. Kleyne will host a satellite press tour to further present her discoveries, stimulate public opinion and elevate global awareness. The event will announce her campaign to make 2007 "The Year Of Eyesight Wellness."

The "2007 Bio-Logic Aqua Research International Symposium on Occupational Health and Eyesight Wellness Responsibility" will comprise an international consortium of prominent ophthalmologists, scientists, researchers, occupational health specialists, industry analysts and more. Sharon Kleyne envisions the symposium as a crucial way to raise awareness and educate people about the emergent threats to occupational health and to introduce new therapies for eyesight wellness, which she sees as a growing global health crisis. As Founder & Chairman of Bio-Logic Aqua Research -- the only company worldwide specializing solely in advanced topical hydrotherapies using ultra-pure tissue culture grade water for pharmaceutical applications -- Kleyne is already seen as a visionary in the field of these new technologies and in the overall arena of eyesight wellness responsibility. Safe, sterile, all natural and chemical/preservative free, her company's widely distributed, signature product, Nature's Tears® EyeMist®, represents a paradigm-shifting breakthrough application for the tear film and dry eyes.

Among the factors Kleyne cites as major threats compromising occupational health and eyesight wellness are workplace and home environments with low air humidity, poor room ventilation, pollution, dust, wall and window insulation, fluorescent lighting, computer and television screens, forced air heating and cooling and much more. "Unfortunately, too many dry eye symptoms either go unnoticed or are not recognized as originating in the eyes," Kleyne says, "In addition to obvious symptoms such as irritation, itching and burning, dry eye symptoms can include stress, chronic fatigue, frequent allergies and colds, a dread of going to work, easy distraction, etc. These can lead to depression, poor health and lost productivity. Eye dehydration often precedes environmentally caused problems of the skin, mouth, lungs and body."

"While adults and many seniors have adjusted to this emerging artificial, digital world, our children," adds Kleyne, "are completely submersed in it. Prolonged and increasing usage of digital devices in man-made environments is causing eye stress and impacting pediatric vision development. The long-term eye health ramifications are simply not known. The current evidence strongly suggests the need for new approaches to occupational health and aggressive behavioral adjustments for improving eyesight wellness. Something is happening to all of us, and we need to study it carefully."

To that end, Sharon Kleyne and Grants Pass, Oregon-based Bio-Logic Aqua Research (the topical hydrotherapy sciences division of Bio-Logic Aqua Technologies Corporation) is leading into 2007 -- The Year Of Eyesight Wellness -- with the Jan. 30 unveiling of the symposium "2007 Bio-Logic Aqua Research International Symposium on Occupational Health and Eyesight Wellness Responsibility."

Now Vedic & Tantric mantras to cure diseases

Now look forward to new age healing through mantras! Sanskrit scholars of Jagadguru Ramanandacharya Rajasthan Sanskrit University have initiated a research project, said to be the first of its kind, to treat various diseases through Vedic chants.

A state-of-the-art astrological lab costing Rs.8 million ($1.5 million) will be set up in the university premises. The city-based National Ayurveda Institute is also participating in the research.

The lab would involve modern scientific gadgets and instruments like high-capacity binoculars, telescope, cameras etc to enable scholars to observe the planetary and other solar activities. Different teams would be constituted on the basis of the ancient Indian science of Ayurveda, the Vedas and astrology to diagnose about 100 general and incurable diseases and their treatment.

In a two-year period, the scholars would analyse and study the impact of rays of various planets and other celestial bodies through various perspectives, bringing into practice traditional Indian treatment and therapies mentioned in Vedic literature.

Experts claim that solar therapy, radiotherapy and several other present-day treatments are actually based on Ayurveda. They also said that if the research proves to be successful, the treatment would be cheaper. "If the project is successful then people would certainly get a better and cheaper treatment facility without any side-effects", said Ramdev Sharma, an Ayurvedic doctor. "The project is in a preliminary stage and will only take off in the next couple of months. We expect good results", Vinod Shastri of the University of Rajasthan, told IANS. "Each letter of Vedic mantra has immense power.

After knowing the symptoms, diseases can be treated effectively through a combination herbs and mantras," said Shastri, who is also an eminent astrologer.

Herbal pill for health freaks Diabetic? head to the saranda forest

The dense forests of Saranda is a veritable storehouse of more than 500 varieties of medicinal plants used by tribal communities to cure illnesses.

This and other interesting trivia were shared with about 150 farmers at the one-day state-level workshop on medicinal plants and its prospects organised today by Sanjeevani Herbs. The company has an agreement with Maa Danteshwari Hi-Tech Herbal Farms of Chhattisgarh, which is the largest producer and exporter of safed musli— a medicinal herb. Sanjeevani will train farmers to grow safed musli.

Safed musli is an aphrodisiac and vitaliser. It is a remedy for diabetes, a cure for arthritis and a curative for natal and post-natal problems.

Director of the organisation Kishore Taleja said that they are growing safed musli at Jonha. Citing the example of R.R. Tripathi, who is a banker turned herbal farmer in Chhattisgarh, Taleja said: “He is growing safed musli, aloe vera and strivia in 1,500 acres of land in the Konda village of Chhattisgarh.”

Another speaker Akhilesh Tripathy said, there are many farmers who grow herbal plants but are unaware about its marketing process. Middlemen often cheat these farmers of their dues, he said.

“We have an organisation called Central Herbal Agro Marketing Federation of India and any farmer can become a member for marketing its product,” he added.

Forester L.P. Gupta alleged that the bio diversity of Saranda forest is getting spoilt due to lack of government interest. “It should be preserved as a heritage of our state,” he said.

Homeopathy treatment Cure chronic diseases : Medical Research Says

People are increasingly going in for homeopathic treatment in India and in many countries. And there are good reasons behind the shift," said doctors at a homeopathic conference here.

Contrary to general belief, more and more people are following homeopathy, even for cancer treatment at early stages. Since allopathy cannot cure all critical or chronic diseases, even after receiving chemotherap treatment , many cancer patients now come to homeopaths, and get positive results, homeopathic doctors attending a four-day workshop-cum-conference that ended here Saturday highlighted.

Apart from India, homeopaths from a dozen other countries including Pakistan attended the conference.
Organised by Pareek Foundation for Research in Homeopathy, the conference outlined the new role of homeopathy as complementary and not as an alternative to various other forms of treatment including allopathy.

Dr Radhey Shyam Pareek, the doyen of homeopathy in north India, categorically stated that though it is perceived that German doctor Samuel Hahnemann invented homeopathy, the founding principles of homeopathy were well established in India thousands of years ago, in Ayurveda and in our spiritual sciences.
Dr Pareek also quoted scriptures from the Gita to assert that the principle of homeopathy was widely accepted even during the period of the Mahabharata.

Dr Gulam Sarwar, a Swiss homeopath of Pakistani origin, told sources that homeopaths were now documenting their cases and making notes, which would help standardise the treatment.

Russian homeopath Sergei Leonov told sources, "We need many more doctors and hospital facilities like India. For a big country like ours we have only 5,000 homeopaths. But our people are now more open to homeopathy. We have numerous success stories of early-stage cancer treatment".Dr Gotthard Behnisch from Germany lauded India's contribution to advancing the role and scope of homeopathy, which has reached new heights here.

"Dr Alok Pareek, the convener of the event, said that homeopathy had moved far ahead in every field and developed its own world. Had homeopathy not been followed, the world would have had many more cancer patients than it has today, "he said.

"Modern homeopaths now use allopathic diagnostic tools for prognosis and on the basis of these reports they treat patients in a holistic manner,"said Pareek.

"We do not consider homeopathy as an alternative system, rather it is complementary. At our institute we even have lessons in yoga and meditation for trainers. India will soon be the global leader in homeopathy," Dr Hahnemann.

He said Agra would also have a PG College to promote teaching, practice and research in homeopathy.

Magnetic Bracelets Reduce The Pain Of Osteoarthritis

Magnetic bracelets reduce pain in osteoarthritis of the hip and knee, finds a study in this week's Christmas issue of the BMJ.Osteoarthritis affects around 760,000 people in the United Kingdom, producing over 3 million general practice consultations in 2000. Manufacturers of magnetic bracelets claim that they can reduce pain and worldwide sales were estimated at £2.6bn ($5bn) in 1999. But evidence about their effectiveness is contradictory.

Researchers from the Peninsula Medical School recruited 194 patients aged 45-80 years with osteoarthritis of the hip or knee from five rural general practices in Devon. Patients wore either a standard strength magnetic bracelet, a weak magnetic bracelet, or a non-magnetic (dummy) bracelet for 12 weeks. Changes in pain were recorded using a recognised pain scoring scale.

They found a significant reduction in pain scores between the standard and dummy magnet groups. The results for the weak magnet group were similar to those of the dummy magnets, and this suggests that the magnetic strength of the bracelet is important.

The authors emphasise that the benefits are in addition to existing treatments, which should not be suddenly stopped without discussion with their doctor. Also they note that high strength magnets (170mTesla or more) seem to be needed.

Although factors such as use of painkillers and patients' beliefs about the type of bracelet they were testing did not affect the results, the authors cannot be certain whether their findings are due to a specific effect of magnets or a placebo effect. But, whatever the mechanism, the benefit from magnetic bracelets seems clinically useful.

The (one-off) cost of bracelets (around £30-£50 or $58-$96), also compares well with that of painkillers, such as paracetamol and anti-inflammatory drugs, and larger investigations should now test the safety of magnets relative to the well-known risks of these drugs, they add.

Further work is also needed to replicate these findings and determine whether the effect extends beyond 12 weeks, they conclude. More on Magnetic Therapy & home remedies on http://health-healing.tripod.com

Indian Ayurvedic Experts To Teach Ayurveda In US Medical Schools

In a bid to make alternative medicine more popular in the US, Indian experts may soon start teaching medical students about Ayurveda in some of America`s best colleges. "The proposal is in the pipeline. We want to make Indian alternative medicine more popular in the west," Shiv Basant, Joint Secretary in the department of ayurveda, yoga and naturopathy, unani, siddha and homeopathy(ayush), told the press. The ayurveda experts are likely to take a short course for the US medical students under the complementary alternative medicine (CAM) in 16 colleges. Basant said for the past two years they have initiated international exchange programmes to promote India`s traditional medicinal system. "For the past two years in Connecticut our experts have been teaching medical students and graduates about alternative medicines.
This programme would be an extension," he said. Navin Shah, who is the founder and past president of the American Association of Physicians of Indian origin in the US and who has been trying to promote this programme, said that as India has not been able to advocate their alternative system, Chinese and Koreans are benefiting in America.
Shah, a famous urologist based in Washington DC and who was here in connection with the programme, said he has already attended a meeting of 16 college deans and their representatives at the Indian embassy in Washington DC on the matter. "There is tremendous interest on the subject. Interest has also been shown by American medical students and graduates to come to India and take a one-year course in Ayurveda," he said.
Shah said the national health institute has shown interest for a joint Indo-US research on ayurveda. "They are ready to fund the research. It will be a great thing for India," he said. He said students, faculty members and graduates of four colleges of Wasghinton DC, four of New York, two of Baltimore, and three each of Philadelphia and Boston would be attending the ayurveda classes. "The only condition we have stipulated is that these experts should be able to scientifically validate that they have been able to cure the diseases," he said. The students would not be charged any fees for attending the classes, he said. "For the first time, we will not charge them. Maybe later, we would do that, but it is yet to be decided," he said.
He said they are yet to decide about the two experts. "In America, the concept is now to heal mind-body-and soul and this could be done through ayurveda," he said. Shah said the classes might encourage many American graduates to come to India and learn the craft." "They could be great potential clientele for India," he said.

Good sleep could make you slim : Loosing Weight

It may not be necessarily diet control or exercise, but if you want to become slim develop a good sleeping habit, suggests a new book after looking at a host of new research.
Sleepless nights significantly disrupt our hormones and metabolism, leaving us much more prone to overeating and weight gain, according to 'The Duvet Diet - Sleep Yourself Slim' written by health journalist Jane Worthington, reported online edition of Daly Mail. But once you get into healthy sleep habits, she says in the book, you'll find it much easier to control your appetite and lose weight.
She quoted several studies including a recent one of more than 6,000 people carried out at Columbia University, America. People who slept four hours or less per night were 73 percent more likely to be obese than those who slept between seven and nine hours a night, it said.
And those who got five hours sleep a night were still 50 percent more likely to be obese. Other evidence to back up Worthington's theory comes from a series of pioneering studies by the University Libre de Bruxelles and the Department of Medicine at the University of Chicago, Illinois, both of which showed clear links between metabolic changes and sleep deprivation.
In the first study, healthy young men were observed during a 16-day sleep trial. For three of those days the men had eight-hour periods of sleep; for the next six days they slept for just four hours; and for the last seven days they had 12-hour sleep periods.
It was found that at the end of the four-hour nights, the subjects had significantly decreased levels of the hormone leptin. "Leptin provides our brains with the "stop feeding me - I've stored enough food" signal," explains Worthington. "If the levels of leptin are decreased, the brain starts to tell the body it's hungry when it's not, so this may increase the drive for food intake and, ultimately, contribute to obesity."
The second study compared the glucose tolerance levels of poor sleepers (those who had broken sleep) with normal sleepers. Glucose tolerance measures your body's ability to deal with excessive sugar in the blood. 'Low' tolerance is a sign that it is not doing this effectively, which could put you at long-term risk of developing diseases such as diabetes.
The glucose tolerance of the poor sleepers was found to be much lower than that of the normal sleepers. According to the researchers, this suggests too little sleep on a regular basis could push poor sleepers down the slippery slope towards obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
